Entry 1 - Day 1

Testing. 1, 2, 3, 4.

Twinkle twinkle little star.

Okay, cool.  Looks like voice-to-text on the PDA is working as well, so at least that's something.  The radio's busted up pretty good, so no chance of finding out if anyone else made it.  I suppose I should probably leave some kind of record in the life pod before I try to leave? Just in case anything happens?

So, my name is Ryley Robinson.  I am the Non-Essential System Maintenance Chief on board the Aurora, or rather I was.  I'm not really sure what happened.  I remember that I was checking the repair of a vending machine on Green deck when the evacuation alarm sounded.  Captain Hollister's voice over the comms urged everyone to get to the lifepods and I just ran.

Lifepod 5 was the nearest and I jumped inside, but there must've been a faulty system 'cos it jettisoned almost immediately.  There was barely had time to lock the harness in place before I was looking out at deep space and watching the Aurora explode.  Next thing I know, there's a lot of shaking, a fire extinguisher comes loose from its bracket, hits a maintenance cover which breaks off its hinges and smacks me in the face, knocking me out.

When I finally open my eyes, there's light from an alien sun streaming through the hatch window and the interior of the lifepod is on fire!  This was not how my day was supposed to go.  I had 60 vending machines to check on this shift, and now I'm fighting fires in a lifepod that has crashed on an alien planet after being ejected from the smoking remains of my ship...

Okay, what would Craig McGill do?  Keep calm.  Deal with the situation in hand.  Take stock and see what's available to you.  That's the plan then, start with an inventory and go from there.

Be right back.

Ryley out.
