Entry 47 - Day 26

I'm sat on a little beach in a cove surrounded by high cliffs, and I'm just watching the stars in the night sky as the Skyrays whirl and circle overhead.  It's peaceful and quiet. Just the lapping of the waves against the sand and the calls of the Skyrays. [A pause, followed by the sound of a deep sigh] I found a PDA on this beach. It was left behind by Keen, I think. Took me all day wandering around this island to find this place and there it was, glowing in the half light as the sun was setting. Only Second Officer Keen and Chief Technical Officer Yu made it to the rendezvous point.  Only three of us survived long enough to make it this location out of a crew of 148 people. A senior officer, a highly qualified engineer and me... a glorified janitorial supervisor. The pair of them tried to go back to The Aurora and get the long range scanners working, hoping to send out another distress signal, but Keen's last message synced to this PDA. They were attacked by that sa...

Entry 46 - Day 25

I have a Seamoth! I have a fakking Seamoth, y'all! [sounds of jubilant yelling] Honestly, I can't express how excited I am. I feel a kid who's worked their buns off all summer, saved every cent and has finally brought the Duocycle of their dreams! Thank you, Ozzy, wherever you are. I'm going to name this beautiful little ship after you, Big man. Okay... real talk. Decision time. Firstly, I'd forgotten that Ozzy mentioned about a cave system in his message, so I might go back an explore that at some stage. However, I was going to decide between going to The Aurora or trying to track down the rendezvous site that Second Officer Keen had mentioned. Now, I did find a PDA with a voice recording in Lifepod 4 and it mentioned a 'Highly Aggressive Leviathan-Class Predator' in the vicinity of The Aurora which had attempted to swallow the Pod... No thank you.  I think that just about made up my mind for me. I am not ready to come face-to-face with something which is...

Entry 45 - Day 24

Today I got the closest to the wreck of The Aurora that I have ever been before. I still haven't been back to Ozzy's location to look for Seamoth salvage, so it was just me, my Seaglide and a radiation suit, out there looking for Lifepod 4. I received a delayed transmission from Pod 4, which must've been from before the explosion but I guess the radiation interfered with the signal and the radio only just finished compiling the signal fragments? I don't know, I'm not a tech, but that's besides the point. The point was that the PDA must've already had some data, because it referenced Pod 4 in relation to where Pod 6 was located and I didn't even realise! So, I found Pod 4 - empty, but that was expected - and then I used that location to track down Pod 6. There was nothing of any great use in either of them, but I felt so proud of myself! Anyway, I'm going to have to find another way to track down the rendezvous point Keen mentioned. He mentioned dry l...

Entry 44 - Day 23 (night)

I've been relistening to the old pre-recorded distress signals today. It was probably a bad idea, but  I was missing the sound of other human voices and really needed to hear them. I t was definitely bittersweet... While I know that I couldn't have helped any of them, part of me still feels guilty. Not because I didn't save them, but because I realise that I probably wouldn't have survived if I wasn't here alone. Does that make sense? I've always relied on other people. I don't think I've ever not had a safety net or support network to fall back on, if things got fakked up back home. I thought joining the crew of The Aurora was going to be a way to cut loose and finally do things on my own.  [the sound of laughter] I guess it was... I guess it was. [pause] Anyway, that wasn't the point. The point was that I was listening to the old recordings and, what with everything else that was going on at the time, I must've missed some stuff. Keen mention...
