Entry 2 - Day 1

Image
I've checked the storage compartment in the lifepod and it contains the following; 2 x Emergency flares 2 x Water rations 2 x Nutrition blocks ...and that's it.   It's supposed to be outfitted with enough equipment to sustain two crew members, but there's no environmental suits, the blueprint database for the fabricator has corrupted, the distress signal isn't broadcasting and the short-range radio is broken!  Just riffic.  At least the hull integrity is good, the medical kit fabricator is powered and I have emergency lighting for the time being, but a couple of bottles of water and nutrition blocks aren't going to last long.  I'm going to have to see what's outside the pod at some stage. The PDA has rebooted into something called 'survival mode', which apparently comes equipped with a sub A.I. to help keep me alive.  I think it's mostly just pre-programmed responses, but anything is better than just talking to myself.  Some of its high fu...

Testing.  1, 2, 3, 4. Twinkle twinkle little star. Okay, cool.  Looks like voice-to-text on the PDA is working as well, so at least that's something.  The radio's busted up pretty good, so no chance of finding out if anyone else made it.   I suppose I should probably leave some kind of record in the life pod before I try to leave? Lifepod 5 was the nearest and I jumped inside, but there must've been a faulty system 'cos it jettisoned almost immediately.  There was barely had time to lock the harness in place before I was looking out at deep space...
