Entry 45 - Day 24

Today I got the closest to the wreck of The Aurora that I have ever been before. I still haven't been back to Ozzy's location to look for Seamoth salvage, so it was just me, my Seaglide and a radiation suit, out there looking for Lifepod 4.

I received a delayed transmission from Pod 4, which must've been from before the explosion but I guess the radiation interfered with the signal and the radio only just finished compiling the signal fragments? I don't know, I'm not a tech, but that's besides the point. The point was that the PDA must've already had some data, because it referenced Pod 4 in relation to where Pod 6 was located and I didn't even realise!

So, I found Pod 4 - empty, but that was expected - and then I used that location to track down Pod 6. There was nothing of any great use in either of them, but I felt so proud of myself!

Anyway, I'm going to have to find another way to track down the rendezvous point Keen mentioned. He mentioned dry land and I've only encountered two islands to date, so unless there's another landmass on the other side of The Aurora, I guess I'll start there.

[pause]

One other thing. I found some wreckage when I was looking for Pod 4 and I managed to get inside. It's weird how the most unexpected things will stir up emotions... There were tables and chairs, open lockers and files, all inside this broken part of the ship, floating around or just laying there, discarded.

There was a photograph inside one of the lockers, probably someone's wife, or girlfriend maybe. I didn't recognise them, but in another life I might have gotten to know the crew member that was this person's significant other. Might have shared laughter with them as we talked about the important people back home, waiting for us.

I thought about taking the photograph with me, but I ended up leaving it behind. Kinda felt as though it would've been like taking flowers off of a memorial, you know? 

Better to leave everything there. I've got enough trouble with my own ghosts, without inviting anyone else's to haunt me too.

Okay, the plan... The plan is to revisit Ozzy's Lifepod and look for parts to scan, then build my own Seamoth. After that, I have options. I can try and find the rendezvous site, or try to get access to what's left of The Aurora.

Good plan. Making progress. Time to sleep.
